Under 16 Youth

Kew AFC Under 16s play in the First Division of the Surrey Youth League.

We’d hope for more consistency this season and opened with a comfortable win at Old Rutlishians. Thereafter though, we fell into a pattern similar to that of last season, losing too many games by a single goal.  However, after a long layoff, we’ve returned to action in late January, with a comfortable win taking us into the semi-finals of the Invitation Cup. See Match report.  All Fixtures and results are listed.

About Kew U16 Youth
This is our third season as a team. We enjoyed a successful first season in Division One, eventually finishing 5th in the league, but only 3 points short of third place. We had great hopes for our second season and started well, but then suffered a string of results where we consistently on the losing end of defeats by a single goal. As a miserable winter came to an end, we again started to gain points and were able to move away from the bottom group of teams by the end of the season. Click on the link for more details of our U15 season. The players and coaches have learned a great deal from our first two years’ experiences and we hope to benefit from that knowledge during this forthcoming season.

Apart from one or two changes, the core of the team remains which finished the season so well.

Our objectives are to:

  • Play and enjoy playing a fast moving, flowing, skilful style of football
  • Win the Division 1 title
  • Continue our reputation as the most sporting, respectful and fair football team in the league
  • Continue our motivation as a squad to improve our fitness, skills and knowledge of the game
  • Support and encourage one another at all times

Stuart Whitwell is managing the team for his third season with Kew AFC. He believes this team is comprised of a wonderful group of players who can develop their potential to achieve success on the field; but most importantly, to enjoy playing football together, develop confidence and self belief, both individually and in their team mates. Stuart is also the chairman of the Youth section.
