The season so far.... Disappointingly we couldn’t get a team out for a late kickoff against Ashford Town on 26 April. Following our Easter trip to the Netherlands, it was back to reality, where we lost 4-1 to the team just above us in the table, Beecholme Colts on 19 April, to ensure we’d finish bottom. We enjoyed mixed fortunes in our a double header on 5 Apr against one of the sides just above us, Hayes Youth. Although we lost the first leg 4-0, we managed to snatch a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. That followed a tough ask on 29 March, going to Kingswood Terriers who’d just beaten division leaders, Worcester Park. So it proved to be, as we went down 6-1. Our first points of 2009 have been a long time coming. We gained a 4-4 draw against local rivals, Kingstonian Youth on 22 March, coming from two goals down in the latter stages of the game. See Match Report. We lost at 3rd-placed Staines Lammas by 4-0 on 15 March. We were trailing Ashford Town Youth 0-3 when torrential rain brought a premature end to the game on 8 March. But we do have some Pictures. We lost 5-2 at Barnes Eagles, disappointing as they’d edged us by a just single goal earlier in the season. And off the field, Claygate have withdrawn from the league, leaving us bottom of the Table and somewhat adrift. After two weeks off, due to snow and half term holidays, on 22 Feb we went down to visitors Manorcroft United, 1-5. Previously, we were beaten by the likely division champions Worcester Park Colts, 6-2, on 1 Feb, in our only game to date in a weather-affected New Year.
A disappointing 4-1 loss at Beecholme on 21 December, left us second bottom. We were dumped out of the Surrey FA Cup by unbeaten Worcester Park Youth by 10-0. Disappointingly, we failed to match our league form against this club, where we’d managed a draw. After some good results, we then lost two weeks in a row to Epsom and Ewell Colts. They beat us 1-3 at home on 30 Nov, a week after ending our recent unbeaten run in atrocious conditions at their ground 2-0. Probably our best result of the season came on 16 Nov as we held the leading Division One side Worcester Park Colts 3-3, ending their one hundred per cent League record. That also made it three games in a row unbeaten. On 9 Nov, we won our Surrey FA Cup tie with a 3-5 win at AFC Brooklands. A week earlier, we’d recorded our first win of the season with a 4-1 victory at local rivals Kingstonians. We built on a fine performance the previous week, when we lost by just a single goal, 2-3 to second place Staines Lammas. We’d been allowed to transfer to division one after a succession of double digit defeats in the premier league. Our first match in the new division was also close, going down 3-4 against Barnes Eagles Colts. We then lost 1-6 at Manorcroft United.
